A former Elizabethtown High School football standout is expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday night after being shot during a robbery attempt in Alabama.
Brandon Deaderick is a defensive lineman for the Crimson Tide.
He was shot in the arm Monday night during an apparent robbery attempt at an off-campus apartment complex in Tuscaloosa.
Police said he was in the parking lot when a man approached him.
“He was approached by a man in dark clothes who pointed a gun and said ‘Give it up,’ when he refused to give it up, that's when he was shot,” said Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson.
Police are searching for the shooter.
Deaderick started all 14 games for Alabama last season as a junior.
