The chief executive officer of Fargo's Prairie St. John's psychiatric center says the 89-bed facility has been acquired by Psychiatric Solutions, Inc., and plans to expand its staff and services. Dr. Emmet Kenney Jr., says he will remain as CEO of Prairie St. John's. The acquisition price was not disclosed.

A statement from PSI, which is based in Franklin, TN, says the acquisition of Prairie St. John's means "a high quality facility with an outstanding staff in a region where PSI has no existing facilities.'' Kenney said Prairie St. John's will have more resources to support its growth.

The statement said the acquisition does not include Prairie St. John's facilities in Woodbury and Edina, MN, which will continue under the name PrairieCare.
