As Obama encourages residents to prepare for a possible outbreak – health officials on the Fond du Lac Reservation say they'll be ready.
Reservation health officials say they've been busy planning and networking with health partners and developing a plan for when the H–1–N–1 vaccine comes out this fall.
"We've been doing a lot of preparatory work in anticipation of its coming out and assuring that the business partners are familiar with what's going on, the schools are familiar, local public health departments have a good idea or plan of how to disperse the vaccine once it gets here," says Deb Smith, Reservation Public Health Coordinator.
Health officials say they're also ready for the seasonal flu – with seven flu–shot clinics to be held throughout the month.
When it comes to staying flu–free this season, officials recommend going back to the basics – plenty of hand washing, staying home when you have flu–like symptoms, and getting a flu shot.
