Hart's Location, N.H., from $28 per tent site per night
For unspoiled wilderness, head to the White Mountains and stay overnight at the family-owned Crawford Notch Campground on the banks of the Saco River — for as little as $28 a night. That fee covers the use of a standard tent site (which can fit up to two medium-size tents) for two adults and two youths ages 6 through 15 and parking for one car.
