An Alcorn County man has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Attorney General's Office, state officials said.
Jarrod Newman, 30, was arrested at his home Monday and charged with two counts of possession of child porn, Attorney General Jim Hood said. Newman was being held Thursday in the Alcorn County jail. No court appearances have yet been set, Hood said.
The arrest was made by investigators of the Attorney General's Office with assistance from the Alcorn County Sheriff's Office as part of Mississippi's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Hood said.
If convicted, Newman could be sentenced to up to 80 years behind bars, Hood said.
