Americans Paying More for Cars

Higher costs in energy and motor vehicles pushed consumer prices upward more forecast last month.

The new report from the Labor Department finds the Consumer Price Index rose three-tenths of a percent, one tenth more than analysts had projected.

Increased prices of used cars and trucks as well as new vehicles made up over 90-percent of the higher core prices.

The rise in the cost of new vehicles during October was the largest of its kind since 1981.
