Dozens of families have opened their homes to children on the seventh annual National Adoption Day.

Thirty families participated in Brockton.

National Adoption Day seeks to raise awareness of the 129,000 children waiting in foster care to find permanent families.

"I just feel like angels are shining upon us and she is just a gift from God," said Deidre Gillespie, an adoptive parent.

"This is our third adoption and she is a full biological sister of our second one, so we're very excited to keep the family together and just kind of finalize the family," said Nancy Copeland, an adoptive parent.

Brockton was one of eight sites across the state participating in National Adoption Day. Across the state, more than 220 children now have a home.
