The Arkansas Environmental Education Association (AEEA) is pleased to announce that Kristi Trotter Hattenhauer of the Jonesboro Math and Science Magnet School has been awarded AEEAs first annual environmental education mini-grant for $300.

The grant will help fund an indoor butterfly and moth garden which will allow the students in grades 1-6 to study the lifecycle of various types of moths and butterflies in their natural habitat and also learn the way they adapt to the seasonal changes of plant life. Over 540 students will be able to benefit from this environmental education project.

Rob Beadel, President of AEEA, said that he was thrilled to see the grant awarded to such a worthy project. There are so many great environmental education projects being conducted around the state by our membership that the Board of Directors and I felt that it was time to recognize our members for their hard work. Mini-grant opportunities are only available to members of AEEA.
