The Real Deal: In conjunction with the Montreal High Lights Festival, which offers food and cultural events (many of them free and outdoors), several hotels around the city are offering packages that include accommodations, a wine and cheese tasting for two, two scarves, a $10 gift certificate at Les Délices de l'Érable restaurant, tea leaves, maple syrup hard candies, and a chocolate bar.

The $95 rate (converted from Canadian $100 at press time) is valid at Auberge du Carré St-Louis; a dozen other hotels are available at higher rates. Ticketed festival events start at $16.50 per person and go all the way up to $82 per person; see the full schedule.

There's also a package at the Le Square Phillips Hôtel & Suites that includes one ticket to a festival event (up to a $39 value) and breakfast, starting at $261 a night with a two-night minimum
