Deputy Technology & Science Editor (Redmond, WA) is looking for an experienced editor and writer for its Technology & Science team. We are seeking someone who thrives on breaking news and excels in a fast-paced newsroom.

This position calls for an editor who can write smart stories and blog posts under deadline pressure with information gathered from multiple sources. The editor also will be responsible for daily editing and production of content in the Technology & Science section. This includes editing staff-written stories, freelance-written stories, wire stories and partner content, as well as writing smart headlines and photo captions. The person in this position also will be responsible for developing our technology and science coverage by establishing and supervising a strong team of freelance writers. The right candidate must have solid news judgment, be able make good decisions in a high-pressure environment and have strong writing and copy-editing skills. The candidate also must have a strong interest in social media and be ready to publish across multiple platforms.

The best candidate will be able to work with editorial content from our television and print partnerships, keep our news sections fresh and accurate and collaborate well with editors in newsrooms on opposite coasts and in Europe. The position requires a BA or BS or equivalent experience. Candidates must have at least five years of journalism experience, excellent technology and science news judgment, understanding of the capabilities of the Internet, excellent communication skills, flexibility and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. Experience with online publishing is strongly preferred. This position is located in Redmond, Wash.
