"NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams" was the most watched network evening newscast for the week of January 25 - 31, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data. During the week, "Nightly" saw 10.080 million total viewers, +1.573 million more than ABC "World News,’" 8.507 million and +3.323 million more than CBS "Evening News’" 6.757 million. ABC "World News" is based on a four-day average as their Wednesday broadcast was retitled due to the State of the Union address.
Last week, "Nightly" continued it’s extensive coverage of the earthquake in Haiti. Since the disaster hit, "Nightly" has broadcast 92 segments covering the ongoing situation on the ground in Haiti. Streaming of Haiti coverage online has contributed to a record-breaking 21.3 million video streams on the newscast’s digital platforms for the month of January.
"Nightly" has delivered over 10 million viewers for four consecutive weeks. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +1.051 million total viewers and is the only newscast to show year-to-year growth.
Last week, "Nightly" also led in the key demo adults 25-54. "Nightly" delivered a 2.5 rating A25-54, ahead of "World News’" 2.0 and "Evening News’" 1.7. With 3.095 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, the newscast beat "World News" by +560,000 viewers. This is the 62nd consecutive week "Nightly" has topped "World News" in this key demo.
As the number one network broadcast last week, "Nightly News" delivered a 6.6/12 Household rating, with "World News" in second place with a 5.7/10, and "Evening News" in third with a 4.5/8.
On its digital platforms, "Nightly" continued its strong performance last week with more than 4 million online streams for the week ending January 30, 2010.
