“NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH BRIAN WILLIAMS” NUMBER ONE EVENING NEWSCAST WITH 10.299 MILLION VIEWERS LAST WEEK

"NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams" was the most watched network evening newscast for the week of January 11 - 17, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data. During the week, "Nightly" saw 10.299 million total viewers, +1.773 million more than ABC "World News,’" 8.526 million and +3.559 million more than CBS "Evening News’" 6.740 million. Last week’s coverage focused predominantly on the devastation in Haiti; Brian Williams was the first evening news anchor to report live from Port-au-Prince.

Last week marks "World News’" lowest delivery since the week of Dec 14, 2009. "Nightly" had its best viewer advantage over "World News" last week since the week of the Beijing Olympics (August 18, 2008). Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +971,000 total viewers and is the only newscast to show year-to-year growth.

Last week, "Nightly" also led in the key demo adults 25-54. "Nightly" delivered a 2.5 rating A25-54, ahead of "World News’" 2.0 and "Evening News’" 1.7. With 3.164 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, the newscast beat "World News" by +684,000 viewers. This is the 60th consecutive week "Nightly" has topped "World News" in this key demo.

As the number one network broadcast last week, "Nightly News" delivered a 6.7/12 Household rating, with "World News" in second place with a 5.7/11, and "Evening News" in third with a 4.5/8.

On its digital platforms, "Nightly" continued its strong performance with more than 6.8 million online streams for the week ending January 16, 2010. This marks the fourth highest week in online video streams for Nightly News.
