Frontier Airlines said Wednesday that it's cutting a fee charged to coach travelers who change tickets, and will let people pick seat assignments when they book discount fares.
Frontier said the fee for a same-day confirmed change in economy-class tickets would be cut to $50 from $100.
The carrier said it also eliminated a $25 fee for tickets bought through the reservations call center and airport ticket counters.
Frontier and other airlines have been adding fees for the past two years, first to deal with high fuel costs and later to offset weak traffic during the recession.
Ian Arthur, Frontier's vice president of marketing, said Wednesday's changes were the first of many as Frontier and Midwest are combined into a single carrier under the Frontier name. Both are owned by Republic Airways Holdings Inc.
