A six-year-old girl was killed after a car being pursued by Los Angeles police crashed, slamming her against a house.
The driver of the car fled on foot, but was captured hours later.
Officer April Harding said the chase began around 6:22 p.m. PT (9:22 ET) Thursday after officers witnessed a drug deal in the Lakeview Terrace area.
Police said that two guns were tossed out of a window of the fleeing suspect's car, the Los Angeles Times reported on its website.
The suspect lost control of the vehicle after the two-minute pursuit and struck a 6-year-old girl standing on a sidewalk and pinned her against a stone wall at a home at Fenton Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard, Harding told CNS News.
The child was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The suspect's car hit the child with enough force that the vehicle's airbags deployed on impact, Harding said.
Two passengers were taken into custody at the scene, Harding said.
The suspects and the girl were not immediately identified.
