An unruly passenger on a Delta airlines plane bound for Amsterdam forced pilots to return the plane to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport shortly after take-off, a spokeswoman for the airline said Sunday.

Airline spokeswoman Leslie Parker said Flight 224 left the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport just after 6 p.m. Saturday.

About 30 minutes later, she said, a passenger disturbance prompted pilots to return to Seattle. The plane landed safely at 7:27 p.m. No one was injured.

The unruly passenger was removed from the plane and taken to a local medical facility, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration told BNO News.

The flight was scheduled to land at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands early Monday afternoon local time.

"The crew evaluated the situation and decided to return," Parker said.

The plane was swept for safety but nothing was found, TSA officials told BNO News.

A total of 215 passengers were on board Delta flight 224, which is also marketed as codeshare KLM flight 6024. It was not immediately clear if the passenger involved is American, Dutch, or of another nationality.
