Compuware Named a "Top Workplace," Honored for Employee-Centric Culture and Benefits

/ Source: GlobeNewswire

DETROIT, Oct. 25, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR), the technology performance company, today announced that it has been named a "Top Workplace" by the Detroit Free Press.

"Compuware continues to do things that other companies only dream of to attract and keep the very best talent," said Pete Karmanos, Jr., Compuware Chairman and CEO. "Our employees are the heart of our organization, and we want to give them the very best place in the world to work. By offering a stimulating professional environment with benefits and culture centered around our employees' needs, Compuware continues to position itself -- and its employees -- for long-term growth and success."

In addition to Compuware's traditional, company-paid or subsidized benefits and insurances, the company also offers employees who work at or visit headquarters a gourmet cafeteria; an advanced wellness center with on-site instruction, state-of-the-art fitness machines and a full-sized basketball court; a child development center; and an option for work-day massages. Additionally, Compuware just hired a full time art curator who established an on-site art gallery, and the company is planning an urban farm for spring, 2011.

"The strength of being named a Detroit Free Press Top Workplace nominee is driven by the fact that this recognition comes directly from randomly selected employees, each of whom participated in anonymous voting," said Paul Anger, Editor and Publisher of the Detroit Free Press. "This is an outstanding accomplishment -- well deserved recognition as we all strive to move our region forward."

Compuware also was recently named one of "Metropolitan Detroit's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For" by the Michigan Business & Professional Association. That August 19, 2010, recognition earmarked Compuware's tenth consecutive designation as one of the area's "101 Best and Brightest" companies.

Study Methodology

The Free Press, in conjunction with its research partner, Workplace Dynamics, sponsored the employee survey that followed a strict process to narrow down and select winning 105 entrants from the more than 950 organizations that originally were asked to participate. The top five companies in each of three categories -- large (Compuware's category), midsize and small -- will be announced at a November 11, 2010, breakfast with extensive Free Press print and online coverage to ensue on Sunday, November 14, 2010.

Composite scores were calculated by Workplace Dynamics on leadership, compensation and training, diversity/inclusion, career development, family-friendly flexibility and values and ethics. Private companies and non-profits as well as publicly held businesses were included in the analysis.
