A 16-year-old girl and her boyfriend have been charged with murder after the teen's father disappeared.
Police in Tucson, Ariz., were notified on Sunday night that Andres Sanchez, 40, had been missing for 10 days. However, police said that "family members were led to believe that Mr Sanchez had left by choice."
Officers were called back to the home at around 2 a.m. on Monday and "received new information" that led them to launch a homicide investigation, police said.
A man's body was discovered with "obvious signs of trauma" in a desert area at around noon on Monday. However, police said they had been unable to confirm the victim's identity due to the condition of the body.
The missing man's daughter Clarissa Andrea Sanchez, 16, and her 19-year-old boyfriend Larry Raymond Coronado were later arrested and charged with first-degree murder, police said.
Both have been booked into the Pima County Jail.
