BALTIMORE, Dec. 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kalahari Greentech, Inc. (Pink Sheets:KHGT) released a statement today that the system fluid that links the head sources with the Solar Collector's turbine is R134a, an environmentally-safe fluid.
R134a was chosen because it changes state from liquid to vapor / gas near ambient temperatures under modest system pressure. This allows for system efficiencies that are cost-effective with other means of generating electric power with solar and waste heat.
Pollution from Chicago's two coal-fired power plants costs neighboring communities $127 million a year in hidden health damages, according to a report that relied on research from the nation's leading scientific organization (Source: ). Pollution from coal-fired power plants is inevitable; unlike R134a, which is environmentally safe.
Robert Matthews of Kalahari Greentech quotes the published R134a specification data, "R134a is a single hydrofluorocarbon or HFC compound. It has no chlorine content, no ozone depletion potential, and modest global warming potential. Clearly, the R134a represents a low threat to the environment, has a low carbon footprint, and will be confined in a closed loop system."
