Police say a snowmobiler has been killed in an avalanche at a western Canadian mountain range.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said Wednesday the 43-year-old man was swept off a mountain in southern British Columbia in a remote site about 124 miles (200 kilometers) northeast of Vancouver after the snowslide hit Tuesday afternoon.
The man, from British Columbia, was snowmobiling with 11 others who were exploring a network of trails. Moskaluk says none of the other sledders were caught in the avalanche.
Western Canada has become a danger spot for avalanche-related deaths. Last winter, 26 people were killed in avalanches on mountain ranges in that region.
