An avalanche on Mount Gerald in eastern British Columbia on Saturday killed three snowmobilers and seriously injured a fourth, CBC News reported.
RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk told CBC a group of four snowmobilers was apparently buried by the avalanche on the mountain north of Golden. Another group of snowmobilers nearby was able to dig out one person but unable to extract the other three.
The rescued victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, CBC reported.
Rescue crews planned to return to the area Sunday morning to try to retrieve the bodies, Moskaluk said.
