President Bush, facing questions about intelligence failures in Iraq, will appear Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” for an hour-long interview.

It will be Bush’s first appearance as president on the talk show; he was interviewed twice before on the program before winning the White House.

“The president welcomes the opportunity to talk about the decisions that we have made to protect the American people and to create more jobs here at home,” spokesman Scott McClellan said Friday. “And the decisions that we have taken are the right decisions for the American people.”

Bush will be the fourth sitting president to be interviewed on “Meet the Press.” The others are Presidents Ford, Carter and Clinton.

Clinton was interviewed twice.
