/ Source: GlobeNewswire

IRVING, Texas, March 23, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WebSafety, Inc. (OTCBB:WBSI), the leading provider of mobile phone software solutions designed to protect families, consumers and businesses from distracted driving, cyber-bullying, and other technology-related social issues, has announced that AAA Northwest Ohio has successfully completed its pilot program. The association is now partnering with WebSafety to offer the company's CellSafety software application to its membership.

AAA Northwest Ohio is committed to creating a safer driving experience and to eliminate the dangerous habit of texting while driving. Additionally, the CellSafety application will notify a parent, guardian or corporate administrator of cyber bullying, sexual harassment or other offensive language that is detected on a cell phone when it is either sent or received.

Bob Walters, president and CEO of AAA Northwest Ohio, stated, "By partnering with WebSafety, Inc. we are providing more than just cost-savings to our members; we are providing a viable way to make the roads safer for us all."

The CellSafety application is compatible with over 90 models of smartphones and tablets powered by the Android, Blackberry and Symbian operating systems and the software works on all of the major wireless carriers in the United States (AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon) as well as the three wireless networks in Canada (Bell Mobility, Rogers and Telus)."

"The pilot program proved that CellSafety is not only an effective application that can reduce driving dangers, but that consumers are demanding this type of feature as they begin to understand the severity of the dangers of distracted driving," said Rowland Day, CEO of WebSafety.

According to several studies, texting while driving can be 2-4 times more dangerous than driving while intoxicated. In fact, twice as many teens are injured while texting and driving than while drinking and driving. Seventy three percent of driving aged children admit to having texted while behind the wheel. The National Safety Council estimates that 200,000 crashes are caused by texting drivers each year.
