Integral Systems Announces Enhanced Visibility Into SNMP Enabled Network Assets

/ Source: GlobeNewswire

LAS VEGAS and COLUMBIA, Md., April 13, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Integral Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq:ISYS) announced today at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas, that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Newpoint Technologies, has released COMPASS SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) Manager. The new tool eliminates costly development time when interfacing the COMPASS Network Management System (NMS) with SNMP-enabled equipment. COMPASS SNMP Manager makes it simple and even more cost efficient to manage both SNMP-enabled and non-SNMP enabled equipment from a single NMS. Increased efficiency eliminates the costly learning curve for operators and administrators, delivering complete network status and situational awareness from a single source.

"COMPASS has long been used by satellite operators and service providers to manage proprietary serial and contact closure and SNMP equipment," said Wally Martland, President of Newpoint Technologies. "With the new COMPASS SNMP Manager, users can more easily and cost-effectively manage their entire network under one NMS. COMPASS integrates with proprietary equipment without the need for costly proxy agents, and interfaces with SNMP equipment without interface development costs that are often incurred with other management systems."

In addition to cost savings, COMPASS SNMP Manager provides an array of tools that increase network efficiency, decrease network down time and simplify network management. For example, COMPASS SNMP Manager eliminates costly and tedious development cycles by automatically discovering SNMP-enabled equipment and allowing administrators to quickly ingest all or part of the Object Identifiers OIDs comprising the Management Information Base MIB. COMPASS SNMP Manager even builds out the device detailed pages in COMPASS TrueNorth's Graphical User Interface (GUI), thereby eliminating screen development time. Users can quickly and easily create custom displays by "dragging and dropping" SNMP-enabled screen components onto displays delivering on-demand access to SNMP data, while simultaneously minimizing network traffic.

COMPASS SNMP Manager helps operators identify network failure causes more quickly. The tool sorts and filters traps received from SNMP equipment. To further reduce network down-time and eliminate costly troubleshooting, COMPASS SNMP Manager quickly generates rules to filter traps and automatically recover from network failures using pre-determined policies.

"With the new COMPASS SNMP Manager, operators have complete network awareness, can quickly generate rules to assist in root cause identification and automate responses to common network failures and alarms, allowing them to focus on ensuring the highest level of reliability and Quality of Service (QoS) for their customers," continued Martland.
