DETROIT, April 14, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The headquarters of Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR) soon will become home to Detroit's newest mural.
Amid the trees, rocks and waterfalls of the 15-story atrium, students from Bright Horizons Day Care, Detroit's Central High School, and employees of Compuware and Quicken Loans will paint a mural that celebrates the resilience of Detroit.
Under the direction of artists Halima Cassells, of the Detroit Mural Factory, and Chazz Miller, of Public ArtWorkz, participants will create a 500-square-foot artwork that will be installed permanently in the employee entrance to the building.
Painting will take place Thursday, April 14, from 3-7 p.m., and Friday, April 15, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The media is invited.
This project is spearheaded by Megan Heeres, curator for public art and gardens at Compuware. Public ArtWorkz is a non-profit that works to fight blight through public art. The Detroit Mural Factory is a consortium of artists dedicated to uplifting Detroit through public art and murals.
