CALGARY, Alberta, April 18, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HeadsUp Entertainment International Inc. (Pink Sheets:HDUP) operators of the Canadian Poker Tour, Canadian Poker Player Magazine and the Canadian Poker Player Television Network have been examining the effects of charges issued Friday against 3 major online poker companies. A major shift in the business model of poker is underway and has begun to play into the hands of HeadsUp Entertainment and the strategies management has implemented.
Over the past 6 six years, HeadsUp Entertainment has been developing relationships and business operations with land based casinos in Canada and Internationally. By operating in this sector and hosting poker events that are licensed and sanctioned by regional governing bodies, it has avoided the potential short term gains associated with the unregulated online sector and positioned it for opportunities that now become the mainstream revenue sectors of the tournament poker market.
Given the effects of major changes in the poker industry, HeadsUp and its Canadian Poker Tour brand are accelerating changes to its tournament model and television production operations to quickly take advantage of a new market that is well positioned to substantially increase the market for its events. The company will immediately be building a series of new proprietary events that have been the backbone of the revenues generated by the company and will be announcing a new television model in the coming weeks.
Management expects to see its market size and resultant revenues increase exponentially over the coming months and a full re-launch of the CPT model is forthcoming.
