NEW YORK, April 29, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Wall Street Journal has named award-winning financial journalist Francesco Guerrera as Editor of the Journal's Money & Investing section. He will oversee the Journal's team of journalists covering Wall Street, markets, investing and insurance. Mr. Guerrera will report to Rebecca Blumenstein, Deputy Managing Editor and International Editor for the Journal.
Mr. Guerrera was the Finance Editor at the Financial Times, leading the publication's financial coverage around the world from its New York office. He has extensive international experience, having worked in Asia and Europe, as well as the U.S., and was the paper's pre-eminent financial reporter and commentator.

Mr. Guerrera replaces Ken Brown, who will relocate to Asia in August to become Chief of a combined Dow Jones and Wall Street Journal bureau in Hong Kong. He will help direct financial coverage across the region and use his experience and leadership skills to develop our digital audience in Asia.

The Journal's award-winning Money & Investing team has produced leading coverage and investigations across critical topics impacting economies on a domestic and global scale. The team's coverage has led the way on the Galleon case and other insider trading investigations, as well as on the reshaping of Wall Street after the financial crisis, and the probe into alleged manipulation of the Libor interest-rate standard.

Most recently, Mr. Guerrera served as Finance Editor at the Financial Times, leading the publication's financial coverage around the world. He previously served as the U.S. Business Editor, the Asian Financial Correspondent and Brussels Correspondent for the FT.
Before joining the FT, Mr. Guerrera was a business correspondent and stock market editor for the Independent. He has been honored with numerous awards, including a Foreign Press Association award for an investigation into "blood diamonds," an Overseas Press Award for its scoop on CNOOC's bid for Unocal, and a SABEW award for a video series on the collapse of Lehman Brothers.
Mr. Guerrera was born in Milan and graduated with a first class degree from City University in London.
