South Korea's president has reshuffled five government ministers in an apparent effort to restore public confidence after election defeats last month.
President Lee Myung-bak's office said Friday that Labor Minister Bahk Jae-wan was nominated as the new finance minister.
It also announced the appointments of new labor, agriculture, environment, and land and transportation ministers.
The nominees are required to undergo confirmation hearing but don't need parliamentary approval.
The appointment came after Lee's ruling party lost key parliamentary and other local by-elections late last month.
