TORONTO, May 20, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Star8 Corporation ("Star8") (Pink Sheets:IMNS) is pleased to announce the release of its proprietary push email application for its Axiom Series phones.
The Axiom Mail application runs on the Star8 Axiom1000 phone, using the Android operating system. Axiom Mail is a full-featured push email application, providing users with all the functionality of using a desktop or laptop.
As Star8's business strategy is directed to provide the Axiom Series of phones to prepaid users in emerging markets. The Axiom Mail application functions uniquely, compared to other mobile email applications available in the market. Axiom Mail does not have an "always on" connection. This is an important feature for prepaid users. Generally, mobile email applications will poll the users email account using the mobile phone data connection. In this scenario, the user reduces their prepaid account every time the application checks for new email, whether there is a new email or not.
Star8 has moved all this functionality to its backend system which supports the Axiom mail application on the phone. The Axiom mail backend system does all the work providing the user with an alert at no cost when a new email arrives. If the user chooses to read the email, only then will the data connection be employed to deliver the email to the phone. Complete control over the data usage for email is put directly with the user of the Axiom1000, allowing them to manage their prepaid account accordingly. Users can then read, reply, forward as if they were sitting in front of their computer.
The Company is actively marketing the products in South East Asia and Africa now and has branded the Axiom Mail product for the African region as DigifonMail to leverage our regional distribution partner's reach into this market.
