Perhaps had a would-be robber not been tardy, he would have gotten away with some cash when he tried to hold up a Starbucks in southeast Wichita late Wednesday night.

Two employees were inside the Starbucks in the 1600 block of S. Rock Rd. when they observed a man wearing a ski mask approaching the front doors of the store armed with a handgun. The man tried to open the door, but there was one problem — the store closed five minutes before. The doors were locked.

The suspect got into the passenger side of a black van and fled the scene. The employees promptly called 911, and the van was pulled over just minutes later.

The 20-year-old man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for one count of attempted aggravated robbery.
