Where's Your Ride this Holiday Weekend?

Law enforcement all across the state are holding checkpoints to keep drunk drivers off the road this holiday weekend. Meanwhile, several services around town are aiming to keep everyone safe this new year. Yellow cab is now partnering with nearly every bar in the River Market and in other parts of Downtown to keep drunk drivers off the road. Here's how the "Safe Ride Home" program works. You show up to a bar, have a great time and then when you're ready to go, you give your keys to the bartender, they call Yellow Cab and you get a free ride up to 25 dollars. "This program is important because everyone at some point will be touched by a drunk driver." says David Wages with Yellow Cab, "Anything we can do to prevent any type of accidents or deaths Regardless of the cost, is well worth it." The program runs 365 days a year, not just for New Years. Wages does say his company does see more calls this time of year however, compared to other Holiday's throughout the year.
