Twitter released updated versions of its mobile app for both iPhone and Android today (April 26), with tweet-worthy additions that include improvements to discover, search and notifications. The Discover tab got a new stream that gives more information on the people you follow, including the tweets they have favorited or retweeted and a list of the people they follow. You also can dig a little deeper on stories that interest you — tap any story once to see related tweets. You can then finish reading the complete story or reply, retweet, or favorite related tweets. Search has been beefed up with spelling suggestions and related terms to your query. Further, Twitter mobile will now auto-complete names when you're searching for a specific person. But what may get heavy users really excited are Twitter's new push notifications. Prior to the update, you could receive alerts only when someone sent you a direct message or mentioned you in a tweet. Starting today, you'll get an alert when someone retweets or favorites your tweet, and when you snag a new follower.
