Boeing Co. said on Wednesday that its tanker program "is not dead" since its U.S. Air Force customer still wants to go ahead with its plan to lease and buy refueling aircraft from the aircraft maker.

"The tanker is not dead," said Boeing Chief Executive Officer Harry Stonecipher in an address to institutional investors in New York. "The customer has not changed their mind one iota about the 767 tanker program."
