An American Airlines jet diverted to Nashville, Tenn., after a flight attendant found a threatening note in a bathroom left for Boston early Friday morning.

The plane was en route from Dallas/Forth Worth to Boston Thursday afternoon when the flight attendant found a note in one of the lavatories saying there was a bomb in the cargo hold.

It was diverted to Nashville and the 129 passengers got off the plane and were re-screened by the Transportation Security Administration and the FBI. Investigators also examined a package taken from the plane that turned out to be harmless.

American Airlines spokesman John Hotard said the passengers were given rooms in local hotels. The flight left Nashville for Boston around 7 a.m. Friday, with 120 passengers on board, nine fewer than it had when in landed in Nashville. Hotard said some passengers had made other arrangements to fly out of Nashville.

It was not immediately clear if any passengers were detained by authorities. A spokesman for the Nashville FBI office did not immediately return a call seeking comment on Friday.
