This week’s Bloomberg Businessweek cover story “Who’s afraid of the NRA? Gun makers, that’s who” dives into the myth that the NRA is speaking for and controlled by gun manufactures, finding exactly the opposite.
“First of all, the NRA’s capacity to potentially organize consumer boycotts of any gun company that gets out of line is so tremendous that gun makers stay in line. Secondly, the NRA’s tendency towards extreme hyperbole–they’re coming for your guns, they’re coming for them tomorrow, is the gun industry’s biggest settling point and that is what drives owners back to the gun stores so the gun industry is willing to stand down.”
