NBC’s Education Nation continues on Sunday with the second annual Student Town Hall hosted by Melissa Harris-Perry.

Host Melissa Harris-Perry will host the second annual Education Nation Student Town Hall from the New York Public Library this Sunday morning. The theme of this year’s summit, , will explore the necessary components needed to prepare students for college and their careers.

Our Student Town Hall will feature students from across the country discussing the major obstacles they face at school as well as solutions to improve college preparedness. We will cover topics ranging from student protests, to hunger, to school safety, and college affordability. Student Eboni Boykin will also be back to talk about her journey from homelessness to Columbia University and how she combats the economic hurdle of attending a top tier school.

Additionally, we will discuss the implementation and goals of The Common Core Standards with its principle architect David Coleman, CEO and president of the College Board. Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt will also join the conversation regarding the growing role of technology in the classroom.  And as we look at college preparedness, journalist and author, Amanda Ripley will be on set to talk about the findings in her book The Smartest Kids in the World which looks at education practices and standards around the globe.

Our program will also feature videos and clips of students sharing in their own words what it takes for them and others to succeed.
