A majority of Americans disapprove of President Obama’s job performance, a new poll reveals.

According to a new Pew Research Center survey President Obama’s overall job approval is at 41%, down 14 points since last December. Further, 53% of Americans disapprove of the way President Obama is handling his job as president. “While Obama’s overall marks have changed little over the past month, 12-point difference between disapproval (53%) and approval (41%) is the largest of his presidency,” Pew reports.

Obama’s slide in approval ratings follows that of his predecessor, George W. Bush, whose second-term job approval ratings plummeted from 48% in December 2004 to 36% after his reelection.

When it comes to key issues, a majority of Americans disapprove of how he is handling health care, economy, immigration, and foreign policy – 59%, 65%, 60% and 56% respectively. It stands to note that his handling of the economy is the lowest of his presidency. Obama’s handling of the threat of terrorism, however, stands at 51% approval.
