U.S. Navy ships and the aircraft carrier USS George Washington arrived in the Philippines on Thursday to deliver badly needed food, water and medicine to victims reeling in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.

Despite the growing effort to get aid to victims, many still haven’t received supplies as debris from the massive storm blocks road, including the one connecting the ravaged city of Tacloban with its airport.

Authorities have said 2,357 people have been confirmed dead, but that number is expected to rise. Approximately 545,000 people have been displaced since the typhoon hit on Nov. 8.
