Coast Guard Sector Charleston received a report at just before 8 a.m. Thursday morning from an associate of the missing fisherman, reporting that the vessel was overdue from an oyster fishing trip the fisherman took on Wednesday. The associate expected the fisherman to return Wednesday evening, but the fisherman never came home.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources located the missing fisherman's 14-foot jon-boat in the Fish Creek area.
Multiple searches were completed Thursday by Coast Guard Station Charleston, Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Colleton County Sheriff's Office.
