The stifling summer heat will continue across the Tampa Bay area through the end of this week. There will be a few showers inland Wednesday evening, but the majority of the area will be dry.

“Temps stay up near 80 degrees overnight with a mostly clear sky,†said Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Julie Phillips.

On Thursday we are looking at a very warm day due to a northwesterly component to the wind and high pressure in place across the area. Highs may hit 95 in Tampa, which is well above average.

There could be a shower near the coast Thursday morning, but we aren't expecting much activity early. By the afternoon showers and storms increase, especially east of I-75. There is a 30% chance of rain Thursday.

Friday will be a similar day with scorching temps into the afternoon. Look for a high near 94 with heat index values in the triple digits. There will be partly cloudy skies by the afternoon with a 30% chance of rain.
