A portion of the Richardson Highway is closed northbound following a crash Wednesday afternoon, according to the Fairbanks Police Department.
Officers had few details about the collision, which reportedly occurred at about 1:30 p.m. at Mile 359 of the highway.
In a tweet on the crash, the City of Fairbanks gave a brief description of the incident.
"Van rear ended fuel truck stopped at railroad tracks. Passenger transported to (Fairbanks Memorial Hospital)," city officials wrote.
FPD Sgt. Robert Thompson says at least six officers are at the scene, using equipment to measure and photograph evidence.
"They've got all the gear out there," Thompson said.
