The Mount Marty men's soccer team was dealt a blow by Doane's offense, losing 6-0 Saturday afternoon at Lewis and Clark Soccer Field in Yankton.

The Lancers' goal keeper Riley Smith had a busy first half as Doane put nine shots on goal of their 30 shots in the first half of the game. Doane quickly controlled the tempo of the game as Scott Bazata had two shots on goal early in the first half. But Doane did not get on the board until Ryan Sjomeling scored the first goal of the game when ball hit the net in the right corner in the fourteenth minute.

Lancers' Ryan Smith quickly had a shot on goal from a header off of a corner kick, but Doane's goal keeper Kip Hovie snatched the ball before it could go over the line.

Doane took control on offense as Rob Triano had two shots on goal before receiving a yellow card in the 25th minute. Three minutes later, Adam Boilesen connected on his first goal of the game as he got a poacher goal off a Justin Feerhusen shot that bounced off the right bar as Lancers' Riley Smith was out of the net.

Rob Triano gave Doane a 3-0 lead in the thirty-fifth minute as he went on a breakaway goal that hit the right corner. Riley Smith stayed busy for the remainder of the half as Cole Buss and Traino each had two shots on goals before half-time.

"We were missing a player because of a red card and our defense up the middle was poor because of his loss," said head coach Shane Miner.

The second half started much the same way for the Lancers as only Senior Daniel Martinez was able to get a shot on goal against the Doane defense.

Doane was able to get on the board in the sixtieth minute of the game when Ryan Sturman found the left corner of the net to make it a 4-0 game.

Alan Nesbitt and Martinez each put a shot on the goal but Hovie, Doane's goal keeper, quickly ran down the shots.

Doane got their second goal of the second half in the seventy-fifth minute making it a 5-0 game. And quickly scored again a minute later on an Adam Boilesen goal, with an assist from Corey Bowles, giving Doane a 6-0 lead.

Ryan Smith and Martinez again had scoring opportunities but failed to get the ball past the Doane's goal keeper.

"Because of our marking," noted coach Miner, "we gave up goals and offensively we expected our shots on goal to go in and when they do not, we get frustrated. We play poorly when frustrated."

The Lancers were led by Daniel Martinez with four shots and two shots on goals. Blain Williams, Ryan Smith and Miguel Arriaga all had one shot on goal. Goal keeper Riley Smith had 15 saves while giving up six goals. Doane was led by Adam Boilsen with two goals. Rob Sjomeling had one goal on four shots on goals, while Ryan Sturman had one goal on three shots on goals. Doane goal keeper Kip Hovie had six saves while not allowing a goal.

Mount Marty with the loss drops to 0-3 in the GPAC and 1-7 overall while Doane advances to 3-0 in the conference and 6-3-1 overall for the season. Mount Marty's next game is at Sioux Falls against the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday, Oct. 2.
