MSNBC.com Promotes Travis McElfresh to Leadership Team

For Immediate Release - MSNBC.com, a leader in breaking news and original journalism on the Internet, has promoted Travis McElfresh to Director of Technology, where he will oversee program management, development, testing, video architecture, master control, operations, news production, and web operations.

“Travis has distinguished himself as a strong planner, cross-group collaborator, and manager with great energy and product vision,” said Charlie Tillinghast, General Manager and Publisher of MSNBC.com.

McElfresh comes to this role from MSNBC where he was Group Program Manager.  He joined Microsoft in 2001 and has served in numerous program management positions.  Prior to MSNBC, McElfresh was a Program Manager in the X-Box division. He has more than a decade of experience in IT and Web development.

“This position requires an individual with the right combination of management savvy and technology know-how,” continued Tillinghast. “Travis has demonstrated his abilities in these areas and is an excellent addition to the leadership team. He will help ensure that MSNBC.com continues to attract and inform millions of consumers everyday.”

McElfresh graduated with a BA from Whitman College, and did graduate work focused on geologic Internet data systems at University of Wyoming. He has held professional certifications from Microsoft and Oracle in systems engineering, database management and web application development
