The price increases we are accustomed to paying for traveling over a holiday weekend do not apply this Labor Day weekend, judging from the bargains galore we found by scouring the Internet. Five of the best Labor Day travel deals we found are featured below, but if your desired destination or departure city isn't covered, don't fret – check out our guide to booking a last-minute trip, and you'll be packing your bags just in time to soak up the last bit of summer's glory.

You can truly relax and get away from it all in the Dominican Republic this weekend. CheapCaribbean.com is advertising a vacation package that includes round-trip airfare from Miami to Puerto Plata, four nights at the Caribbean Village Playa Dorada, all meals, beverages, tips and gratuities. This package is available over the Labor Day weekend with departures Thursday, September 1 through October from $389 per person not including tax.

The price is based on double occupancy and does not include taxes and service charges and transportation to and from the airport.

Washington D.C. from $236
This Labor Day weekend, take a learning vacation. Spend the upcoming long weekend in Washington D.C. and you can pack in a few days of politics and history for less. AA.com offers a Thursday through Monday vacation package that includes round-trip airfare from New York LaGuardia Airport plus four nights' hotel accommodations at the Hotel Rouge. You may choose from several departure times on both September 1 and September 5 for no additional cost.

The price is based on double occupancy and does not include taxes and fees. The total price for two travelers including taxes and fees is $540.20.

San Francisco from $321
A few days in San Francisco is all it will take for you to see why so many have left their hearts there. Ride the cable cars, take the ferry to Alcatraz and watch the seals frolic at Fisherman's Wharf for less this Labor Day weekend with a great deal from Travelocity. The package includes three nights' hotel accommodation (Econolodge and Howard Johnson – upgrades available) and round-trip airfare from Baltimore ($220.40 per person), New Orleans ($180.20 per person) or Raleigh/Durham ($173.70 per person).

Taxes and fees are included in the per-person price, but the Web site does say, "Due to the rise in fuel prices, the airlines have the right to add additional fuel surcharges, insurance surcharges, and other fees at the time of ticketing."
