Croatian police said on Tuesday that an explosion at the British embassy in Zagreb had been caused by an embassy worker who was arrested and had confessed to the crime.
A Croatian citizen was injured when an explosive device blew up in the mail-room of the British embassy on Monday morning. The motive is still being investigated, officials said.
Interior Minister Ivica Kirin told reporters: “It was not a terrorist act, but that of an individual from criminal circles.”
Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Monday he thought the blast may have been aimed at derailing the country’s bid to join the European Union.
