A Facebook algorithm that’s designed for suicide prevention
Social media companies have recently been working on A.I. based tools to help with suicide prevention efforts. Facebook announced that it will expand worldwide, a program designed to prevent suicide, and Google now shows users a suicide hotline number if they enter certain search keywords. Of course, machines can never replace psychological help or support systems for those who are in need, but when it comes to in-the-moment suicide prevention, A.I. could be useful.
