Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi joined “Meet the Press” on August 24, 1975, almost two months after her government declared a national state of emergency. During an address on the national emergency, Gandhi claimed, “the actions of few are endangering the rights of the vast majority.” She doubled down on her remarks during her interview, saying if those who “created a situation of indiscipline” continued, there would be “anarchy.”
