James A. Farley was the first guest to appear on “Meet the Press” on November 6, 1947. Farley played an important role in the New Deal. He was Franklin D. Roosevelt’s campaign manager in 1932-1936, postmaster general from 1933-1940 and the chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
