The Daily Show with Trevor Noah recently announced it had added comedian and actor Ronny Chieng as a correspondent for the return of the highly anticipated faux news show.

Chieng, who is of Chinese descent, was born in Malaysia and grew up in the U.S. and Singapore before attending school in Australia, where he obtained a law degree.

Chieng’s law degree has played an important role in his stand-up, for example in one joke in which he uses his verbal skills to win an argument between him and his girlfriend over the intent of a Kanye West video.

The comic rose to prominence in 2012 after being named one of the "Top 10 Rising Comedians in Australia" by several Australian news publications, according to a statement from Comedy Central.

In addition to Chieng, comedian Roy Wood and actress and comedienne Desi Lydic were also named new Daily Show correspondents.

Host Trevor Noah said in a statement: "I'm so excited to welcome these new members of The Daily Show team. Now I get to share my stress with other new people."

The addition of Chieng continues to add diversity to the Comedy Central staple, which announced in March that Noah, a biracial South African comic, would succeed Jon Stewart.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah is scheduled to begin on September 28, 2015.
