Eric Nguyen, 31

Special Assistant to the President and Associate Counsel, Office of the White House Counsel

Hometown: Clarks Summit, PA

How did you get here?

I was lucky to work with Neil Eggleston while we were both at Kirkland & Ellis, and he hired me after becoming White House Counsel.

Who or what has been the greatest influence on your career?

My professors and closest friends in law school helped me learn to think like a lawyer. Clerking for Judge Alex Kozinski and Justice Anthony M. Kennedy helped me become a better one.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment during the Obama administration?

Earning the trust of talented people who implement the President’s policies and look to our office to help think through difficult issues.

Can you describe your time working for the Obama administration in 10 words?

Great colleagues; meaningful, challenging work; an honor to be here.

Complete the sentence: “When I’m not working, I…”

I run, read, bake, and root for the Yankees.
