Following news of the tragic accident involving popular K-Pop girl band, Ladies' Code, which resulted in the death of 22-year-old singer EunB and serious injuries to fellow band members RiSe and Sojung, fans and K-Pop stars have turned to social media en masse to mourn as a community.
Ladies' Code's label, Polaris Entertainment, reportedly released a statement after the car crash.
“Near Suwon around 1:30 AM, the car that Ladies’ Code had been riding in after finishing up their schedule in Daegu experienced a problem where the back wheel came off," read the statement. "With the back wheel coming off on the rainy road, the car ended up spinning several times before hitting the guard rail. Due to this, EunB tragically passed away. Currently, RiSe is in critical condition and Sojung is receiving treatment for her injuries. The other members and the manager and stylist have no big injuries."
Soon after EunB's death was confirmed, Twitter hashtags #RIPEunB, #PrayforLadiesCode, and #StayStrongLadiesCode were trending worldwide, with fans expressing shock, sadness, and devotion.
Fellow K-Pop stars sent messages of grief and support for the surviving Ladies' Code members, including tweets from Miss a Suzy, Jokwon, Brown Eyed Girls’ JeA, SNSD’s Sunny, and hundreds more.
Fans were so moved by one of EunB's last wishes -- to have one Ladies' Code song reach #1 on the charts -- that they rallied to make it come true.
According to industry reports, EunB's family said, "We went to the hospital after being contacted at daybreak...She entered the hospital in a deceased state. There was no medical malpractice."
EunB’s funeral is scheduled for September 5.
